Equipped with a powerful Raspberry Pi 4 running ROS 2, an OAK-D AI spatial stereo camera, a 2D LiDAR and more. All components have been seamlessly integrated to provide a ready-to-use development and learning platform. Take advantage of the thriving community of open source ROS developers and start learning robotics from day one.

TurtleBot 4 Lite comes fully assembled with ROS 2 pre-installed and configured along with detailed user documentation, an Ignition Gazebo simulation model, demo code and a suite of tutorials, allowing you to quickly start developing robotics applications.

TurtleBot 4 Lite comes with a range of built-in sensors ideal for many robotics applications. Onboard sensors include the OAK-D spatial AI stereo camera, 2D Lidar, IMU, optical ground tracking sensor, wheel encoders, infrared, cliff, bump detection, slip detection and more. All onboard sensors are available as ROS topics via the network-connected ROS 2 API.

TurtleBot 4 Lite is built on the iRobot® Create 3 educational robot – a rugged mobile base that provides a range of intelligent sensors for precise localization and positioning, a payload capacity of 9 lbs out of the box and up to 15 lbs with custom configuration, and a top speed of .306 ft/s. The Create 3 features a standalone ROS interface and, unlike previous TurtleBots, includes built-in batteries and a charging station.

Once you’ve mastered the basics, easily expand TurtleBot 4 Lite’s capabilities by adding your own custom sensors and payloads. Accessible USB ports, power outages, and a top mounting plate make it easy to integrate third-party hardware and components. With ROS 2 and its support for micro-ROS, expanding and integrating embedded microcontrollers is easier than ever.

TurtleBot is an open source platform and you can get the design and software here. You are encouraged to try it out, extend it, or build your own. For every TurtleBot 4 shipped, a portion of the proceeds goes to Open Robotics for the continued support of the development, distribution, and adoption of open source software in robotics research and education.
